From Snappy and Sore to Strong, Calm & Grounded — My Midlife Reset Story

This isn’t the story I thought I’d be telling.

As a yoga teacher, people often assume I’m calm, flexible, and spiritually on point all the time. But here’s the truth:

That wasn’t always the case!

I was snappy.
I was sore.
I was stretched to my limit — physically, mentally, emotionally.

I was doing all the “right” things: eating well, moving my body, showing up for work and family… but I felt depleted. I had no space for myself, no time to rest, and zero energy to even think clearly, let alone feel inspired or joyful.

Even yoga, the thing I loved, started to feel like just another chore.

When the tools stop working, you have to shift the system.

Looking back, I wasn’t failing — I was flooded.

I wasn’t unmotivated — I was overwhelmed.

My nervous system was constantly in overdrive, and no single class, vitamin, or massage was going to fix that.

What I really needed was a reset — not just for my body, but for my mindset, my routine, and the way I was showing up for myself. However, stopping was difficult too! I was tired yet wired!

But this wasn’t a “go on a retreat” sort of reset…… It didn’t happen overnight. It has taken time, consistency and determination. It has made such a difference.

I started slowly to rebuild something gentle, grounded, and real:

  • I shifted how I moved, with short, nourishing practices (even 10 minutes mattered).

  • I set boundaries I’d avoided for years — lovingly, and without guilt.

  • I created small but powerful rituals to check in, set intentions, and breathe through the chaos.

  • I gave myself permission to rest — and found strength in the softness.

It has been a gradual process – but with gradual change comes lasting results.

There are still days where it is challenging, life isn’t consistent and things happen. But, I these small simple routines and practices that I have established have made a HUGE difference in how I manage and work through the difficulties and curve-balls of life.

And then I started introducing the same ideas and practices with clients……

I noticed that clients were coming to me with similar issues and I started working with them in the same way that I had been making changes for myself.

I started giving them “homework”. Short practices, affirmations and breathing techniques to help them.

It transformed their yoga from a “once a week” practice to a “weave it into your life regularly” practice.

Any my clients started to notice the changes and benefits too!

And then I thought: what if I could help more people do the same?

That’s why I created Strong, Calm & Grounded — a 6-week yoga-based course that’s less about touching your toes and more about getting back into touch with yourself.

It’s designed for people just like you — busy, thoughtful, tired, and quietly craving more clarity, more peace, more ease.

You don’t need to be flexible.
You don’t need to “get it together” first.
You just need a safe place to begin again.

This isn’t a fitness challenge. It’s a return.

If you feel like you've lost your spark — if your body aches, your patience is thin, and you're tired of being everything to everyone — I see you. I’ve been you.

And I’d love to walk with you as you come back to yourself.

Because it’s not about doing more.

It’s about doing it differently.
