Landing Before Moving Forward

Finding a pause before beginning……

January often arrives with an unspoken expectation to start again. New goals, new habits, new energy.

But for many of us, that pressure feels out of sync with how we actually feel.

Energetically, this time of year is still about hibernating and arrival. The body and nervous system may be tired from the year before, carrying stress, emotion, or simply the weight of everything that’s been held (especially after everything that the festive season brings!).

Before moving forward, we need time to land, take time to pause, to figure out where we are currently.

Landing doesn’t mean giving up or standing still.

It means allowing yourself to fully arrive in the present moment before deciding what comes next.

In yoga, this looks like slowing down transitions, focusing on breath, and feeling the support of the ground beneath us. It’s about letting the body lead rather than pushing it to perform.

When we take time to land:

  • The nervous system settles

  • Energy begins to return naturally

  • Choices become clearer and more sustainable

This means practices that are designed to support that process. Grounding movement, gentle strength, and rest. Nothing to achieve. Nothing to fix.

Because when we allow ourselves to arrive fully, moving forward becomes far more steady, calm, and aligned.

There is no rush to begin.

How will you arrive?
